MORE COMMENTS TO COME IN THE NEAR FUTURE...

J.C. 85008 - 5 JUL: I am a soccer player in our state women's league as well as a recreation therapist. I can attest to the value and rewards reaped by having fields available for recreation and sports.

N.W. 85014 - 3 JUL: We need more soccer fields that have grass. It's very difficult to play with cleats on a field that is 1/2 grass and 1/2 dirt or gravel.

J.B. 85048 - 1 JUL: We don't need anymore condos to go vacant in this already over populated poor real estate market. we need more recreation areas for our KIDS!!

D.C. 85044 - 30 JUN: We desperately need a Sports Complex for our children!

M.H. 85008 - 15 JUN: Even though we have no grandchildren in Phoenix, my husband (A.) and I support the efforts to preserve this land for our young people's recreation.

H.M. 85048 - 8 JUN: This is so necessary... to provide the communities in the Phoenix area a place for positive recreation and activity!!!

N.S. 85008 - 3 JUN: If you build it, they will come!

S.T. 85028 - 3 JUN: This is a critical plan for our city, our children and our ability to prove that Phoenix is ready to play on the world stage.

J.V. 85044 - 3 JUN: My entire team would play there as often as possible...we need a good facility!

P.C. 85048 - 3 JUN: Fully supportive of this idea. Pecos is ridiculously small and poorly managed. Just watch the kids play in the mud after a rainy day and you'll understand how poorly this is being managed. We not only need an additional sport complex (a real one this time), but a new management team as well IMO

N.L. 85041 - 2 JUN: I am an elementary school teacher, and I see a great need for kids to have places to play, open spaces to exercise, and above all, the chance to learn discipline and teamwork through the world's greatest game... futbol.

M.D. 85032 - 2 JUN: Sports build community and sense of belonging, I cannot imagine having a childhood without sports. We have to do whatever we can to provide future generations with those same opportunities. Having a place to play is the first step.

V.R. 85006 - 2 JUN: I support a recreation facility at 40th and McDowell. There is a great need for this in the central Phoenix area.

M.W. 85018 - 2 JUN: This would be a fantastic use for this land, especially as it is close to the freeway and therefore accessible by more people. It also would be great for the neighborhood, which could use a boost. The kids who live around there would greatly benefit from a place to play sports, too! Thank you.

D.H. 85006 - 2 JUN: The tiny park (Coronado)in our neighborhood is too small for all the sports activities that go on there. We need more recreational space in this part of town to keep kids busy and out of trouble.

P.G. 85006 - 1 JUN: Don't let this opportunity slip away--give us a point of pride for this neighborhood!

M.U. 85008 - 1 JUN: YES - PLEASE put in sports fields at that location. The children in this area of town are in great need of recreation and a safe place to spend their time. Other areas of town had beautiful green belts planned in, but in the older neighborhoods, we are ignored.

C.C. 85008 - 1 JUN: I live at 36 st & McDowell and have two sons, X (10) and J (5). As of now there is no green space for them to play in this area. The entire block is ugly and an eyesore, I moved here from the lush greenery of the east coast and my will need to move from the area in 6 mos. if the community does nothing to implement healthy alternatives for children and family recreation. I would like to see outdoor basketball courts (with lights), soccer and football fields. I would be willing to assist with writing grant proposals to help fund this project, and standing outside petitioning for a change.

M.T. 85018 - 1 JUN: I have a 17 year old son who plays football at Arcadia High School. We need a sports center and park for the kids in this neighborhood. We have to support for the children.

E.N. 85008 - 31 MAY: We've been waiting for the needed recreation and sports facilities promised since I was a Scoutmaster of Troop 133 in 1968 and now the second generation still needs these facilities.

S.P. 85008 - 25 MAY: Children are the future of this country. Providing them with outdoor activities within walking distance of their low income homes sends a message to them that we care.

S.S. 85008 - 24 MAY: What a wonderful use for this property at 40th St and McDowell. It will give children a wonderful outlet for their energy and keep them using this energy for destructive purposes.

R.S. 85008 - 21 MAY: Will there be plans for some racquetball courts????????

C.S. 85004 - 8 MAY: Thanks for working for the future leaders of our community and our Nation through team sports!

C.H. 85018 - 6 MAY: Will the City take this opportunity to forsake profit for the good of our community? I fear that my optimism is misplaced.

R.S. 85018 - 5 MAY: I have spent all 56 years living in this area and this ABSOLUTLEY a necessity with the growth I have seen and is to come. I paid taxes and my children used private parochial schools to keep them safe and busy. With this sports facility I feel the future generations can actually live in this area with activities without having drive out into other areas who do provide for their needs and recreation. My unused tax dollars will be well spend on this facility now from when I couldn't use public schools that were not supported with adequate parks to support my children's activities. Thank you.

L.A. 85008 - 27 APR: This area sorely needs more parks and green spaces. Because of its proximity to the 202, this parcel would not be good for a park, but sports fields would at least keep the area somewhat open. More condos will just add more congestion in the local area.

N.H. 85257 - 24 APR: This is would be a wonderful addition to this area. My grandsons would benefit greatly from it.

G.M. 85048 - 17 APR: I will be very disappointed if our government does not have the foresight to recognize that this location presently best serves the interests of our citizens through use as a sports complex. A decision to keep this land free of other development now serves to keep options open for the future, while providing much needed facilities at present.

T.O. 85018 - 16 APR: I wrote e-mail to today to Will Bullock, and believe he has taken the initiative here to help folks now in a big way. I am hoping the City of Phoenix has the wisdom to see this, and take this step in order to alleviate the blight now infecting this area for a number of years running now

P.S. 85226 - 15 APR: Facilities for youth soccer in Arizona are completely inadequate, across the board. Please give the kids in Districts 6/8 somewhere to play. This is very important in age of rampant childhood obesity.

M.A. 85242 - 14 APR: It's absolutely crucial to preserve and develop land for soccer sports venues. Soccer is the fastest growing sport in our state with your help we can make this happen. Soccer promotes a positive learning and physical environment for everyone. It's the right choice and will benefit all for years to come.

D.S. 85018 - 14 APR: Much needed. We go to Tempe for Soccer and Scottsdale for Lacrosse.

R.S. 85286 - 14 APR: We need more sports facilities for our youth, We have a over building of residential property problem in this state already. More sports facilities means you have to build less detention centers and prisons. It a trickle down effect. Give something for our youth to do that is constructive, in which they feel they have accomplished something, instead of destructive. Thank you

D.S. 85048 - 13 APR: Soccer players, coaches, and trainers alike have been asking for a premier soccer facility in Phoenix for some time. With the addition of this park, it sets the state up to host regionals, and potentially nationals. Both of these tournaments would bring in significant revenue for the state of Arizona. As well as put Arizona on the map for the development of national caliber soccer players.

N.R. 85048 - 12 APR: Compared to Scottsdale, you people are so far behind, you think you're coming in first?

S.W. 85044 - 11 APR: I support the obtaining of state land at McDowell and 40th Street for the purpose of building a recreation facility to serve the needs of area residents by improving our neighborhoods with lower crime, higher property values and by providing healthy activities for all, young and old

M.H. 85239 - 11 APR: I was a Texas resident for many years before I moved to AZ, The one thing that I haven't be able to get over is the number of breaking news every day and every hour, so I starting looking for reasons specialty when it comes to our youth and realized the limited activities offer by the cities of this state to them. I know there are many factors that contribute to crimes but a busy kid is a productive one....a bored kid is dangerous to himself and to others. Please give them a chance.

J.S. 85296 - 11 APR: The more parks and fields built in the communities will help our youth in many aspects. It will give them a place to play, a place to learn teamwork, a place to keep them out of trouble, and a place for the community to take pride in.

J.B. 85008 - 11 APR: This is a must have for this area of Phoenix. The alternative for condo development can be explored in a number of other locations in that vicinity. This community needs something unique and something that will be beneficial to morale and to the youth of our district.

C.C. 85008 - 11 APR: WE NEED MORE FIELDS DESPERATELY!!!

J.W. 85008 - 11 APR: Putting resources into youth and adult recreation facilities will pay dividends for the entire neighborhood. Give our people healthy alternatives to build good lives and good communities.

J.C. 85008 - 11 APR: With all available vacant housing in Phoenix, building additional condos is simply unacceptable and another drain on our dwindling resources. A recreation facility would demonstrate City's commitment to making Phoenix a better place to live for its residents. We cannot continue to sell out to every builder who has no interest in our quality of life.

M.P. 85008 - 11 APR: Please consider saving this land for citizens of district 6 and 8. We need sports facilities for our youth and adults. It builds community spirit and keeps our area of town alive. I have lived in district six for over 30 years and have seen so much of the available land built with apartments and condo's but no added recreational facilities. Please consider saving this land for the residents.

B.M. 85008 - 10 APR: I would like to also see tennis courts and structured organized leagues and lessons included for kids and adults, similar to Indian School Park and Kiwanis Park. Central Phoenix deserves a high quality recreation/sports complex!

A.R. 85018 - 7 APR: This is the most beneficial idea for the use of this eye-sore piece of land that I've heard of yet. The plan is efficient on all levels that could benefit -the community, the government, and our landscape, which is too grossly over-run with apartments, condos and business high-rises. This is a refreshing compliment to the environment and our land use.

M.C. 85018 - 6 APR: 4 out of the 7 children in my family attended Arcadia schools and now I'm raising my two sons here as well. Our community is awesome but the one thing we have always lacked is space for all of our children to pursue their recreational and athletic activities close to home!!!

A.O. 85048 - 5 APR: I have lived and worked in greater phoenix area since 1967 Any project to improve neighborhoods, cut down on crime, and provide healthy living activities to our young and old can not be bad for any city.

P.L. 85018 - 5 APR: Great plan for the site. Certainly don't need more high density housing in that area.

T.C. 85008 - 1 APR: We live in Enclave Villas - the playing fields would be between our complex and the 202. What a great way to improve our community and create a positive environment for our kids!

J.L. 85251 - 30 MAR: Our grandchildren, who were very active in soccer, have had to be driven far out of that area in order to participate, from grade school thru high school.......it is time there is a decent diversified field for this part of the town to use..........no matter what the sport........that land has been an eyesore for too long.........we need recreation space, not more condos.

T.P. 85018 - 28 MAR: The importance of city parks cannot be understated. Parks are community shrines. Having recreational facilities where our youth and adults can enjoy and participate in sports is critical to our City's ongoing development. Our leaders should remember a quote by one of the greatest master builders of our time, who once said “As long as you’re fighting for parks, you can be sure of having public opinion on your side. And as long as you have public opinion on your side, you’re safe. As long as you’re on the side of parks you’re on the side of the angels. You can’t lose.” Let us push forward with setting aside a place to give the present and future residents of our City a place to carry on, and enjoy life.

V.N. 85008 - 17 MAR: Hi, my daughter is just starting soccer this season, which is the last season. As a counselor and former educator I am appalled by the actions of our city. Children are always forgotten. After the research is showing a need for children to get active for their physical and mental health, our city does away with some of the only exercise children get. I am available to help.

R.S. 85048 - 27 JAN: Please support this project. Our youth in this area is starved for quality recreational facilities. We have to go to Tempe, chandler or Gilbert for most of our outdoor sports.

F.S. 85048 - 34 JAN: The quality and the number of fields available for youth sports is shameful. City planing has obviously not considered the explosive growth in the southeast valley.

A.O. 85048 - 24 JAN: We really need more recreation fields. Our children are out practicing/having games at 9:00 at night on school nights because that is the first time the limited fields are available. Let's make Phoenix a place where families come first!

C.W. 85048 - 24 JAN:
This area would be packed with kids and adults who need a quality recreational facility and it is in a very central location which only makes this option more attractive.

T.G. 85048 – 24 JAN: Please create a park!!! we have enough EMPTY buildings, apts, and houses to support the needs of our community. Remember there is a balance, our kids need some place to play! Common sense should tell you what the better choice would be.

Thank you for your consideration

S.P. 85008 – 24 JAN: I live in this area and this would be a huge improvement. It might help clean up the surrounding area of that parcel and the freeway access is excellent for the whole valley.

S.H. 85045 – 24 JAN: Reach 11 and Cap Basin are nice sports complexes, but they serve only a small part of the city population. Pecos Park is so over utilized that teams cannot get enough practice time and the fields wind up getting beat up. Any little bit of rain and the fields get closed down. Please give us more options. I support my tax dollars going to the youth of today and helping keep them playing soccer rather than meth!

A.G. 85045 – 24 JAN: I am the field coordinator for Ahwatukee Foothills Soccer Club, I am also a board member of the club - in these capacities - I am in full agreement that the city must invest in more fields. Living in Ahwatukee, we only have Pecos Park which is poorly invested when compared to Reach 11. We need more field space - today we are turning away kids and teams do to not having enough field space.

A.O. 85045 – JAN 24: We really need more recreation fields. Our children are out practicing/having games at 9:00 at night on school nights because that is the first time the limited fields are available. Let's make Phoenix a place where families come first!

C.W. 85048 – 24 JAN: This area would be packed with kids and adults who need a quality recreational facility and it is in a very central location which only makes this option more attractive.

K.L. 85048 - 24 JAN: As a native of Arizona and a soccer parent of two boys who play soccer, I'm very disappointed that someone is actually looking at selling land for another strip mall. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help!

L.E. 85283 - JAN 24: I am a Tempe Resident, but I coach a couple of competitive soccer teams on a daily basis in south PHX (ahwatukee). And I see on a daily basis the need for better upkeep of the current fields (i.e. PECOS) and the need for new fields for all sports not just soccer...It will be better for the whole community rather that one developer/developer group....Lets stop thinking financially and start thinking responsibly for the WHOLE community...Thanks for listening.

B.W. 85249 - JAN 24: This affects all kids in the East valley, not just the Phoenix based kids. I do believe the surrounding cities should get involved to help push this through as well as the parents of the kids in all these areas.,

L.A. 85044 - JAN 8: By my digital signature, I support the obtaining of state land at McDowell and 40th Street for the purpose of building a recreation facility to serve the needs of area residents by improving our neighborhoods with lower crime, higher property values and by providing healthy activities for all, young and old.

B.O. 85018 - JAN 8: That area is in dire need of some public park/land for residents to use. soccer fields plus additional facilities will surely be a great addition to the area and city

G.W. 85302 - JAN 10: I am an Adult Female playing in a womens rec. league and I fully support the need for more soccer fields not only for the adults but for the youth that so desperately deserve a chance to play on decent fields. NO way could I imagine only 1 field in Glendale.

Mr. & Mrs. J.L. 58018 - JAN 10: There are very many schools and club soccer teams in this area and most players must travel many miles to get to a decent lighted field. This consumes gas and increases traffic and the potential for traffic accidents. PLEASE DO CONSIDER USING THIS EMPTY FIELD FOR THE YOUTH.......thank you.

D.S. 85259 – JAN 10: This is not a time where we need more lots to build housing. New housing construction is at a 10 year low. Soccer on the other hand, is taking off. We are having difficulties in finding sufficient fields to practice (my 2 sons and I are all engaged in soccer teams). Thank you for your consideration.

R.F.B 85392 – JAN 5: 2 million kids play soccer in United States, more kids play soccer than any other sport. Arizona is one of the States with more potential of player development but for this to happen we need facility's that promote the development of soccer.

D.C. 85205 – JAN 7: We need more soccer fields in the East Valley and throughout. I am the Vice President of the AYSA Recreational Development and I find the major problems with all our league...NOT ENOUGH fields. Please help us!!! Thanks.

M.E. 85283 – JAN 7: I am the director of the Phoenix Adult Soccer League and share your concern 100%. Phoenix and the surrounding cities in comparison to other cities across the country have a great deficiency in sports fields. It is nearly impossible to find a field to play due to the lack of land / recreation areas. I will pass on your email to the 1000+ people in my organization as well as post a link on my website. (www.phxsoccer.com) Please let me know if there is anything else that I can do to help.

P.M. 85251 – JAN 7: I run a sports league and find it nearly impossible to find fields anywhere. Let me know what I need to do to help. I have contacts with several leagues around the valley that might be able to pool our resources.

A.H. 85016 – JAN 7: This is much needed in central Phoenix. Not only would these fields and resources encourage positive activities for all ages, but it would also eliminate thousands of extra miles driven by people living in central Phoenix who now have to drive to fields in other cities; it would positively benefit the environment by reducing emissions.

J.C. 85018 – JAN 7: Please consider the addition of this field a necessity! If we want to have healthy children who go outside to play, we must provide a place for them to go. Thank you for your consideration.

M.S. 85006 – JAN 7: As a soccer player and a central Phoenix resident, this complex is overdue!

J.R 85054 – JAN 3: Please help support more available fields in Phoenix. I personally drive myself & family across the valley, to outer lying suburbs, just to access the fields, spending hundreds of $$in gas & adding to the pollution problems every year. Please make more soccer fields accessible to us in Phoenix!

F.M. 85003 – JAN 3: I have lived in Phoenix for 47 years. I also grew up in this area. I went to Balsz elementary school and East High School. I have played Soccer since I was twelve years old and am still playing at my age. It is a sport you can play through the ages unlike some other sports. I have been thoroughly disappointed in this city for not supporting soccer. I used to play in a league in Phoenix 30 years ago. the leagues have way surpassed the amount of fields they can use. since then I have had to play in the surrounding cities. For a City this size it's embarrassing. I have to play in Scottsdale because there are not enough fields in town. There is not one lighted complex in the inner city that can be used by leagues. And I am not talking about youth leagues. It's time that these cities support the adult leagues too. I haven't been paying my taxes all my life just to support the youth leagues. Also were do they have to go when they become adults to play soccer. Another city probably. It's time that this city corrects itself and do the right thing "build a lighted soccer complex here"!!!!!

S.B. 85255 – JAN 4: As a female soccer player, we need this. Most other fields are predominately for kids and men. We get the last ones available, and always at far ends of the city.

C.T-M. 85021 – JAN 4: We definitely need more fields available for adults to play soccer. Women from west and central phoenix have to go to Chandler and Mesa to play as our league can't get fields anywhere else.
